MTS says launches pilot 5G zone in Western Siberian city
MOSCOW, Aug 20 (PRIME) -- Mobile operator MTS has launched the first pilot 5G network on 5G-Ready equipment Ericsson Radio System in the range of 27 GHz in the city of Tomsk, in Western Siberia, the company said on Thursday in a statement.
“MTS develops 5G technologies and innovative infrastructure in different Russian regions steadily. It makes it possible to study the possibilities that will soon become available for business and provide an impulse in the future in the social and economic development of the country,” head of MTS’ branch in the Tomsk Region Marina Feshchenko said.
The operator demonstrated capacities of 5G on smartphone Samsung Galaxy S20+, and video calling and downloading of applications and files reached the peak speed of 2 Gbit/s.
